As part of your pay equity claim process, the consultation for the General Areas of Responsibility document opens on Monday 9 September.
This document provides a summary of the responsibilities identified by kaiako and tumuaki who were interviewed for the pay equity claim.
Now, we need you to review it and then fill in the gaps to complete the picture. If something you do is not in the document, that means it wasn’t captured in an interview.
It’s important that we, as a teaching profession, take the time to complete this step to ensure that we build a strong picture of teaching before we enter the next stage of the pay equity process.
Chat to your worksite representative or your local Mana Taurite champion to find out what time you and your colleagues are meeting to discuss the document.

Hui Whakamana
The Hui Whakamana are a consultation option for kaiako and tumuaki working in kura kaupapa Māori, kura ā-Iwi, puna reo, Māori immersion and bi-lingual settings as well as te reo Māori kaiako | teachers in English medium settings. Kaiako and tumuaki are invited to the hui to consider the responsibilities drawn from the interviews in kaupapa Māori education settings and identify any missing responsibilities or confirm what was found. The opportunity to register an interest for online hui will be available when the consultation opens. The online hui will be offered from week 2 of the consultation period. Each hui will run for approximately 2 ½ hours and will be outside of teaching hours.
